It is made up of only one village which, according to figures from 2014, has only 69 inhabitants (National Institute of Statistics). It is <strong>907 m above sea level<\/strong> and 91 km from Santander, the capital city of Cantabria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Its official name, <em>Tresviso<\/em>, comes from <em><strong>\u201ctres-visu\u201d<\/strong><\/em>, the Cantabrian derivation of the Latin expression <i>trans visum<\/i>, meaning \u201cbehind the hill from which a place begins to be seen\u201d, or <strong><i>trans abyssum<\/i><\/strong>, \u201cbehind the abyss\u201d. Head towards <strong>Potes<\/strong> until you reach <strong>Panes<\/strong>, then follow the signs to <strong>Arenas de Cabrales.<\/strong> Once you get there, take the <strong>Tielve &#8211;\u00a0Sotres &#8211;\u00a0Tresviso<\/strong> turn-off. The road is being widened and offers spectacular views.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You can also arrive on foot by walking up the spectacular Pe\u00f1a path.
